Art & design is not about what you see, but what you make others see.

Kim Shoefs

Kim Schoefs

Kim consciously chooses furniture with a story. For her, culture means staying true to timeless values without following passing trends.

After finishing school, she became self-employed and opened her furniture store “Simongavina” in Hasselt, specialising in exclusive, timeless design collections — 20 fascinating years.

Today, she brings that experience to her work as an interior design specialist at Keldermans Wonen in Herk-de-Stad. There, she created “Adventure of Living”: an inspiring space where art, vintage and design come together in an atmosphere of class and authenticity. No trends, just choices that last.

PARADISOTERRESTRE

Paradisoterrestre, Gavina’s last major project, was founded in the late 1970s and opened its doors in 1983. Initially specialising in extraordinary objects and urban furniture, the brand has built on the wealth of knowledge and experience gained over the years. The aim was to create a small, personal oasis on earth, combining functionality with beautiful forms.

Paradisoterrestre has grown into a cultural hub, where friendships and collaborations have given rise to iconic Italian design pieces. Since 2017, the brand has brought together cultural heritage and innovation by reissuing historic designs and collaborating with contemporary designers.

Christel Valkeneers

My name is Christel Valkeneers. I was born and raised in rural Herk-de-Stad in the late 1960s. I developed a passion for art at an early age. Over the years, however, time for painting had to give way to time with my family, running the household and my full-time job.

As a medical representative, I travel daily throughout the Dutch-speaking part of the country. The increasingly busy roads, longer traffic jams and constant race against the clock often leave me longing for a moment to slow down and be mindful of the here and now.

Time flies by, yet every now and then I try to stop the clock. I call it escaping time and the hustle and bustle of everyday life. It was here that I rediscovered my passion for painting. My stress levels drop as my hands glide across the canvas. There’s a wonderful feeling in letting everything happen in the flow of the moment. I try to bring this sense of calm into my work: tranquil colours, gentle movements and abstract forms.

What’s more, my heart leaps with joy when I can share my moment of escape and relaxation with others, along with the creations that come from it.

CERAMICS BY

EVE POELMANS

My name is Eve Poelmans. I was born in 1979 and live in picturesque Sint-Truiden. My career is rooted in the sale of high-end fashion and interior design products, which has given me a keen eye for trends, colours and aesthetics. Driven by a deep passion for craft and craftsmanship, I have continually furthered my education. Among other qualifications, I hold a diploma in upholstery and have trained as a beekeeper.

In 2019, I discovered my true passion: ceramics. This marked the beginning of a journey at Academie Haspengouw Beeld, where I immersed myself in the art of clay, porcelain and creating unique glazes. After five inspiring years, I graduated in 2024.

I’m fascinated by abstract design and the way I can distort my thrown pieces. Ceramics help me explore new sculptural forms and push me out of my comfort zone. My ambition is to create sculptures that are not only visually appealing, but also convey a sense of lightness and movement.

No challenge is too much for me! I also try to inspire others so I can share this passion with them.
